“SAXON MIRROR” – FIRST CODIFICATION OF GERMAN MEDIEVAL LAW (to the 780th anniversary of its enactment)

The article is dedicated to the 780th anniversary of the “Saxon Mirror” compilation.
It was the first codification of the German medieval law of the law book, which had a
great spreading and influence on the medieval and current law practice both in Germany
and in other countries of Central and Eastern Europe in the XIII–XVII centuries. Special
attention is paid to E. von Reppow, the author of “Saxon Mirror”, to the content and
manuscripts of this law book.
