ESTABLISHMENT, STRUCTURE AND ACTIVITY OF HALYCHYNA VICEGERENCY (1848-1918)

Vicegerency, headed by Vicegerent with wide powers for the country ruling, was
established in Halychyna in 1848, when it was a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Vicegerent had been reigning for 69 years (till 1918) over the territory, which major part was
inhabited by the Ukrainians. The article deals with the issues of the structure and authority of
Halychyna Vicegerency, and Vicegerent, in particular.
